Biography
Lauren Davis is an accomplished music business attorney. She started her own law practice in 1992 advising high profile clients such as the Allman Brothers Band, LL Cool J, Reverend "Run" from Run DMC, Donnie McClurkin, Scarface, songwriters Michael Masser ("The Greatest Love of All" and "Touch Me in the Morning"), Albert Hammond ("It Never Rained in Southern California" and "The Air That I Breathe") and Andrea Martin ("Don’t Let Go" for En Vogue, "Before You Walked Out of My Life" for Monica , "I Love Me Some Him" for Toni Braxton, among others), manager Tim Collins (Aerosmith), music executives, record producers, record labels and music publishing companies. In addition to maintaining her law practice, Davis has been a frequent lecturer at ASCAP, BMI, Women in Music and the Learning Annex in New York City, South by Southwest in Austin, Winter Music Conference in Miami and Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2005, Davis authored a course "Music Business 101" for Berkleemusic (Berklee College of Music‘s online extension school) that is currently offered as part of their Master Certificate Program. Davis started as an adjunct at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2002. In 2004, she joined the Department of Recorded Music’s adjunct faculty teaching music business courses and assisting in the development of the music business curriculum--and in 2006 was appointed Associate Teacher, Recorded Music. Davis graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in 1985, and received her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1988.
