On Friday, November 9, as a guest of Music Theory professor, Jeff Peretz, Producer and DJ, Mark Ronson, visited the department to speak to Recorded Music students about his career in the music industry. Born in London, Mark moved to New York City when he was eight. In 1993, he started dj'ing in downtown NY clubs, created a buzz, and began to build a reputation with music industry hip-hop heavyweights. Eventually, he signed with Elektra, produced some great records, and later moved on to launch his own label, Allido Records. To date, Mark has worked with several talented artists including Rhymefest, Daniel Merriweather, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera, Domino, and others. Mark still loves to DJ, and you can hear him most Fridays on his East Village radio show. Mark shared secrets and samples of his work with Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, and his new solo album, entitled "Version."
