As a special lead in to the AES Convention, October 5th-October 8th, 2007, Recorded Music is pleased to have welcomed award-winning producer and engineer, Ronald Prent.
Beginning at 9:30 am, Wednesday, October 3rd, and Thursday, October 4th, as a part of Professor Nick Sansano's Studio II production class, Ronald gave demonstrations of his unique use of surround sound in rock and pop recordings. All Recorded Music students were invited to sit in on those talks, as well as Ronald's API Vision Masterclass, which was given as a part of the Senior Capstone Studio Production class at 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 4th.

Ronald's permanent base is at Galaxy Studios in Belgium (http://www.galaxy.be/) where he has explored the new territory of surround mixing/recording for CD, SACD, and DVD. At Galaxy studios he has spent the last 6 years researching and developing different methods of surround recording and mixing, with continued support from Philips and Sony. In addition, Ronald has assisted API in the design of the new discrete analogue multichannel mixing console – the Vision, which he will demonstrate in Studio 510, Thursday afternoon.
