Biography
Nick Sansano began his professional career at Greene Street Recording in NYC, recording and mixing for a variety of seminal Hip Hop artists including Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Rob Base and Run DMC. His work with the "Bomb Squad" production team attracted the attention of Sonic Youth, with whom he recorded and co-produced
Daydream Nation and
Goo, two critically acclaimed and historical alternative music recordings. Daydream Nation was recently selected for inclusion in the US Library of Congress archive. He went on to record and produce the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Bats, The Grifters, Grassy Knoll, Le Tigre and Galactic, deepening his connection with alternative music. Nick's genre-crossing work has taken him around the world, producing recordings all throughout Europe, and in Australia and New Zealand. In France he found success producing multi-platinum recordings for the groups IAM, Zebda and Noir Desir, with all three groups winning Victoire de la Music awards for album of the year, all three in different genres. In all, Nick has been awarded over 15 gold, platinum and/or diamond record awards in the US and Europe. He joined the staff of the The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music in 2004, and is now an Associate Arts Professor and director of the music production curriculum for the department. Nick is an accomplished keyboard player, programmer and arranger. He is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston and lives in New York City with his wife and two children.
