Biography
Tom Sturges, Head of Creative for Universal
Music Publishing Group, will join the NYU community for an intimate seminar as
The Clive Davis Dept. of Recorded Music’s Executive in Residence for the
2010-2011 academic year. In his role at UMPG, Sturges oversees the
creative team responsible for signing and developing new talent, and creates
marketing programs that benefit the career development of writers, artists, and
producers signed to UMPG. The largest music publisher in the world, UMPG
is home to such international superstar acts as U2, Britney Spears, Justin
Timberlake, Common, Maroon 5, Coldplay, and Swizz Beats. In addition to
his successful career as a publisher, Sturges is a recognized author and
volunteer, and has received numerous awards from civic and national leaders for
his efforts to bring music and creativity to public schools.
